Charles Emir Richards was born in San Francisco to a Turkish mother and American father growing up between both countries.

In 1994 he graduated the Art Center College of Design with honors in film. Living in Los Angeles he worked in the film industry doing camera and lighting work as well as2nd unit directing until1997 when he started directing music videos with MaviSakal’s “Iki Yol”.

Two years later he began directing commercials, which he continues to do till the present earning several national and international awards with his work. His clients include VW, Peugeot, Coca Cola, Fanta, HSBC, Is Bank, GarantiBank, Ak Bank, & Sony, to name just a few.

In 2011 Charles returned to Music video’s with Manga’s “Fly to Stay Alive”. The video topped European MTV charts beating out artists such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna&Beyonce.

In 2006 he started “serious” photography for Rolling Stone, turning an otherwise relaxing hobby into a second job. Since then he has been a constant contributor to Vogue and GQ Magazines.

Charles still lives as he was born, between Istanbul and Los Angeles as an avid sailor and enthusiastic student of blues guitar.
